Mattresses are not what they used to be years ago. The old mattress on my grandmother’s bed was a batted mattress that could just be picked up and folded in half. This mattress was so totally non supportive to the back; no wonder it was difficult to sleep. Now, a mattress can be everything from an adjustable bed for changing positions, to an air sleep number bed where you can change the mattress firmness with the push of a button. Waterbeds are still available, but no as popular as they once were.

Adjustable beds are quite the rage now. Our kids love sleeping or watching TV on the Aerobed because it’s fun for them to change the firmness. The bed inflates in minutes or even seconds. Unexpected guests will quickly have a mattress to sleep on without the bed. There are bed frames purchased separately to raise the air mattress off the floor. This is nicer for older couples. People are electing to stay in smaller homes now; so if there isn’t enough room for a special guest bedroom, you no longer need it with extra beds folded up in the closet. These air beds come in every size. Sheets are no problem because they slip on easily. We have a double size mattress; and now I wish we had a queen. We use it so much; another air mattress will probably be in our future. Try one and see if it isn’t the easiest mattress to inflate and so easy to put away when the guests are gone.
