There are many baby toys on the market. Every baby store or online website will offer some sort of stuffed animals in all sizes for the nursery. Some of the baby toy selections will mainly finish off the nursery décor such as teddy bears, or bunnies. Some plush animals come in sizes that at as big as four to five feet tall – much too big for our baby to play with.

Toys for babies can be pure fun and whimsy or they can be educational. Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines when it comes to all plush animals or any other toys. They will be specific as to what is age appropriate for that particular item.

Of course if you receive baby gifts or hand me downs that the baby will be playing with, make sure all of the buttons and ribbons are secure. Guidelines are very strict on new toys but they weren’t there at all when we were kids. Vintage toys are for looking at and not for play.

Toys can be bright and beautiful for attention getters, or you will see a lot of stuffed toys that are pale and soft in color. Other newborn toys and mobiles are black and white because the baby’s eyes have not developed. Whatever you decide to go with, make sure the toys surrounding the baby are safe.
