Quilts are fabulous pieces of nostalgia that are collected all over the world. I have a quilted bedspread that was given to me by my grandmother and it holds a very special place on the bed. There are so many quilt patterns available; look on the internet for the quilt pattern to download for free. I enjoy quilting, but only with a free form method. Take a piece of quilt cloth and put it on some muslin. Put the quilting pieces together in a form of collage or just use one piece of fabric. Then take the sewing machine and stitch in a free form pattern all over the quilt fabric. Use as many colors of thread as desired. Stitch the quilt fabric piece until it is heavily sewn. Then throw it in the washing machine. The quilting fabric will shrink and pucker which is what is wanted. There is some shrinkage so allow for that when sizing the quilting material. Lay the piece on some batting and finish the quilt as usual. Use this for the nursery or any room. It’s a fabulous and fun method of quilting with a machine and people don’t need to be so precise. It sure beats doing all of the quilt piecing they did many years ago.
